Arthur Kaliyev had some interesting things to say about the Kings after he was claimed off waivers by the New York Rangers.

Arthur Kaliyev, drafted in the 2nd round 33rd overall by the LA Kings back in 2019, has not played in a single NHL game this season.

Last year, he appeared in 51 games for the Kings, putting up 7 goals and 15 points.

He has 35 career goals and 71 points in 188 contests, all with LA.

Now it appears as though he has been given a second chance in the NHL as the https://www.houseofhockey.net/nhl-team/new-york-rangers/former-la-kings-goalscorer-arthur-kaliyev-officially-claimed-off-waivers-by-shocking-team

Today, Kaliyev sat down with reporters to share his thoughts on the move.

He revealed that he grew up a Rangers fan living in New York, so the move was particularly special for him.

"I didn't expect it, obviously, but it's kind of like a dream come true. I grew up watching and obviously living down here for a long time."

Kaliyev also revealed that he had been hoping for a change in scenery for some time, so he is glad to move on from the Kings organization.

Unfortunately, it seems like things just did not quite work out for him with the team that drafted him.

That being said, the Kings did give him a decent opportunity to prove himself with nearly 200 regular-season games and he just got pushed out of the lineup by better players.

Perhaps he can regain an everyday role in the league with the Rangers as the team continues to struggle, which could give Kaliyev a much-needed opportunity.

The 23-year-old certainly seems excited about the possibility of playing for the Rangers.

"This is going to be really exciting, get a new, fresh starting opportunity to prove yourself as a player. I'm really excited for this opportunity."

Kaliyev likely will not be in the lineup tonight as the Rangers take on the Dallas Stars, but look for him to make his season debut on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils.
