The New York Rangers sent a message to Matt Rempe in the fourth clash against the Washington Capitals, on Sunday night.

Rempe started the playoffs strong, scoring the first goal for the Rangers in game one.

Unfortunately for him and the Blue Shirts' fans, he couldn't keep that same level. Peter Laviolette, his head coach, sent him a message in yesterday's series clinching victory in Washington.

Even if the team managed to become the first organization to clinch a ticket for the second round this year, Laviolette wasn't happy with Rempe's performances, and decided to bench him for the whole third period.

Greg Wyshynski shared details on X; adding that he was limited to eight shifts in the first two periods.

"Matt Rempe time on ice in Game 4. Didn't see the ice in the third period. #NYR"

Rempe definitely had a part of the blame to take in the Capitals' first goal of the game. He was late on a turnover and left Martin Fehervary all alone in front of Igor Shesterkin.

We can clearly see his mistake in the following video:

New York will have some time to recover and prepare for the next round. Peter Laviolette should address Rempe's issues in that time, to make sure he doesn't make that mistake again, especially in the playoffs, where every mistakes can cost victories.
