Tyler Ennis had an extensive career in the NHL. After getting his start in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers, he was lucky enough to get drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 26th overall in the 2008 Draft.
After eight years with the team, he spent the next five years in the league playing as #63 with the Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Edmonton Oilers, recording 144 goals and 346 total points in 700 career games. Yet, after his last season in Ottawa, he left the league to play in Europe. He first rejoined the Swiss-A league, playing for Bern SC in 37 games. The next year, he only appeared on the ice for seven games with the Manheim Eagles of the DEL.
However, Tyler Ennis recently announced on Instagram that he is officially retiring from professional hockey. He left a heartwarming message, thanking all of the staff and players for being part of hs career. He then expressed great gratitude towards his parents for supporting him the whole way and into the future as he takes his next steps.
Tyler Ennis will always be remembered as a solid player for being so undersized, and many of his fans believe he was among the best of his stature in the NHL. No matter what he plans to do now that he is out of the sport and nearly 35 years old, we hope you can join us in wishing him the best in retirement.
