Flyers rookie sensation Matvei Michkov has incredible reaction to dramatic overtime winner
The Philadelphia Flyers recently took down the Chicago Blackhawks in dramatic fashion, and after the OT winner, Matvei Michkov had an amazing reaction.
This season in Philadelphia, all the talk and the hype is around standout rookie Matvei Michkov, and thus far, he has delivered, tallying 7 goals and 16 points in 19 games played.
On top of that, he's had some incredible moments early in his career, including a dramatic overtime winner against the Chicago Blackhawks, downing fellow young star Connor Bedard in an incredible moment.
The play was set up beautifully by Travis Sanheim and Travis Konecny, but for Michkov to have the confidence to step up and confidently finish in the moment is such a great testament to how good he can not only be but how good he already is.
It was an incredible moment on home ice that sent the crowd in Philadelphia into a frenzy, another memorable moment in the young career of Michkov, who has established himself as arguably the top rookie in a Calder race that includes Dustin Wolf, Logan Stankoven, and No. 1 overall pick Macklin Celebrini.
The moment comes after Michkov was shockingly benched by Head Coach John Tortorella recently, but upon return, he has been stellar.
After the game, Michkov was asked about the moment, delivering this incredible line to show that not only is he a great young player, but also an immense personality off the ice.
"If there is a moment, then you need to (finish) it in cold blood," said Michkov following the game.
More importantly for Flyers fans, this shows that Michkov has the killer instinct that all-star players throughout the history of the NHL have possessed, all of which add to the notion that he'll grow into a top star in the coming years.
There's still plenty that he needs to do before being considered a star, but all of the signs right now point to Michkov blossoming into the player that fans believe he can be.
