While athletes often get asked boring, repetitive questions by the media, the social media teams of these organizations have seemingly changed things up, and now offer great insights into the players on your favourite squads. That continues in the pre-season, with the Pittsburgh Penguins asking players what their career would be if they never made it to the NHL as they look to keep things lighthearted during a very tough time for many players as they prepare for the rigours and the pressure of another NHL season.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of the answers still revolved around sports in some capacity, as players grow up around sport so much, but captain Sidney Crosby had perhaps one of the most interesting answers.
Without hesitation, No. 87 revealed he would want to be a firefighter, and given his physical stature and leadership, as well as wanting to help others, it's a fantastic, albeit unexpected answer that stood out amongst the rest of his teammates.
This brings to mind a commercial for Tim Horton's that Crosby filmed years ago with fellow Cole Harbour native Nathan MacKinnon, in which 87 revealed he was scared of heights, although he continued on with the fire drill anyway.
Thankfully for the Pittsburgh Penguins and their fans, the country of Canada, especially back in 2010 and countless hockey players around the world, Crosby made the easy choice of pursuing his hockey dreams, and instead of fighting fires, he's going down as one of the greatest players to ever play in the NHL.
