Jordan Binnington has a history of being a hot head and lets his emotions get the better of him. It has lead to a majority of NHL fans to be fed up with his antics. It was even so bad that ex-head coach Craig Berube called him out a couple times over it. There was also a suspension involved too.
The incident in question could have been intentional but also looked accidental
Luke Evangelista of the Nashville Predators was the victim of Binnington's actions on Saturday night when he struck him in the face with the butt of his stick.
Although it's possible that Binnington was mistaken and moved to tap his posts rather than Evangelista's face, there will undoubtedly be many Blues supporters who won't be willing to give the goalie the benefit of the doubt given Binnington's reputation.
The play in question can go either way as Evangelista does skate close to the net and it does not appear that Binnington knows exactly where he is. On the other hand it is Jordan Binnington. See the clip below and judge for yourself:
How the game played out on Saturday afternoon
The Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues squared off on Saturday afternoon with the Predators coming away victorious to the tune of 5-2. Binnington let in four goals on 32 shots, rocking a 4.21 goals against average and a 0.875 save percentage. Evangelista scored the second Nashville goal and was in Binnington's grill quite a few times during the game.
