This afternoon the Seattle Kraken have announced a surprising but exciting roster move involving forward Shane Wright. Reports indicate Shane Wright will be changing teams and getting a major opportunity.

The Seattle Kraken announced via a post on X that forward Shane Wright is going to be called up to the NHL. The former exceptional status player in the OHL and fourth overall pick has spent the majority of this season playing in the AHL for the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The #SeaKraken have recalled forward Shane Wright from the Coachella Valley @Firebirds.

Shane Wright has had a much more turbulent start to his NHL career than almost anyone could've expected. Despite his struggles at the NHL level he has done quite well in the AHL with 43 points in 56 games including surpassing 20 goals.

Shane Wright, recalled by #SeaKraken, is one of the best young talents in the AHL.

The 2022 4th overall pick has recorded 11 PTS in 12 games this month.

Wright was ranked #14 in The Hockey News' 2024 Future Watch Issue.

With a handful of games left in the NHL season, Shane Wright will be able to show the progress he has made and try and cement himself as a key piece of next year's team. If Shane Wright plays the rest of the season he will get an opportunity to match up against one of the teams that passed on him the Arizona Coyotes.

These next few weeks could be key for Shane Wright to get his name back out there as one of the top prospects in the NHL heading into the 2024-25 season.
