Tampa Bay Lightning disrespect Steven Stamkos with their contract offer
The Tampa Bay Lightning are set to have their captain Steven Stamkos hit the open market on July 1 and the Tampa Bay Lightning's offer to keep him has leaked.
Earlier today, it was reported that Steven Stamkos would be hitting the open market after not being able to make an agreement on a contract extension.
From Stamkos' agent Don Meehan, who tells me regarding his client:
«He will be a free agent on July 1.»
So would appear Stamkos is going to market Monday unless something changes in Tampa's position.
It was now later reported that the Lightning offered an 8-year, $3 million contract.
Stamkos is arguably the greatest Tampa Bay Lightning player of all time. He has captained the team to two Stanley Cups, scored 60 goals in a season, and is a future hall of famer.
Lightning fans will be hopeful that they can keep Stamkos at this point, but at this stage it does not look too likely.
