Leafs fans extremely concerned after Auston Matthews appears very skinny in photos
Fans of the Leafs have recently gotten their first look at Auston Matthews in his new captaincy uniform; he appears to be very skinny and it has raised concern.
Pictures of Auston Matthews via recent photos have made him look a lot slimmer than his listed 215 pounds on the NHL website. Of course, Matthews did miss games 4, 5, and 6 of the first round in last season's playoffs due to illness, which also clearly affected him in game 3. He did return for game 7, but the Leafs couldn't pull out a win.
There were some questions from fans if his listed weight was indeed correct, with many concluding that he may be 15 to 20 pounds lighter with the goal of being quicker and more agile on the ice.
One of the league's most prolific scorers, Auston Matthews has collected 368 goals and 281 assists in 562 games over eight seasons, including a pair of 60-goal seasons. Recently, he took over as the captain of the Maple Leafs, replacing John Tavares, and has high hopes to bring the Stanley Cup to Toronto for the first time since 1967.
