The Toronto Maple Leafs have some very solid prospects, but according to one writer of The Athletic, there's two in particular that should be untouchable.
This season has been another strong start for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and with Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll thriving in net, they may have fixed their biggest issue from previous years.
Fortunately for Toronto, the future in net looks incredibly bright as well, with the team already getting a glimpse of Dennis Hildeby in 2024/25, after he made two solid starts in the absence of Woll.
Now, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic has been quick to heap praise onto both of them, noting that the Leafs should not move them in any way this season, no matter how hard other teams push.
"The guy you wanna move might be Matt Murray. He's more proven, and he's a guy who can rock a solid number two and he's the number three in the organization. I don't see why you'd ever move those guys." In particular he notes just how important Artur Akhtyamov is to the future of Toronto, with the 23-year old already showing elite traits at the AHL level with the Toronto Marlies.
"Ahktyamov in particular; he's 7 games into his AHL career. He already has two shutouts, his glove hand is NHL-ready and the Leafs have done such a good job of finding goalies who are level...find boring goalies."
Despite already having two great goaltenders, the Maple Leafs still need to think of the future while also pushing for a Stanley Cup for the first time in almost 60 years, and Kloke made it clear that neither should be moved in trades.
This has been a position of weakness for Toronto for quite some time, so to all of a sudden have such a wealth of players at the position, it's not something that the team should simply take for granted.
