Max Domi fires shots at the rookie who went after Auston Matthews
During the Toronto Maple Leafs game against the New Jersey Devils, Simon Nemec, a rookie, went after Auston Matthews which sparked a response from Max Domi.
Last Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell to the New Jersey Devils 6-5 in a high-scoring and eventful game. During the second period, 2022 2nd overall pick Simon Nemec went after Auston Matthews closing a gap and not necessarily making any dirty plays. This sparked quite a response from Max Domi.
domi being mad at simon nemec for doing his job and getting shoved by matthews is crazy
After the game, Domi went after Nemec with some hefty disrespect.
"To be honest, like, the corner of my eye I just saw Auston & whoever the other guy on Jersey was battling & wasn't a fan of that so went over" - Max Domi
While New Jersey has many stars as is like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, Timo Meier, and Dougie Hamilton, Nemec is looking to join that group and has posted quite a strong rookie campaign.
It is clear that Domi is trying to send a message but at the end of the day, it does not appear that Nemec was doing all too much to warrant such a response.
