The Toronto Maple Leafs have just made a major roster move in order to facilitate Matt Murray's return to gameplay in his comeback from injury this season.

Matt Murray has not played in a game this season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he underwent surgery on a lower-body injury at the beginning of the season. He has been on LTIR since and has been quietly rehabilitating from his injury. With the Leafs already fairly deep in goal, there has been no real rush to get him back. However, the Leafs have now taken the first major step in getting him to return to play.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Matt Murray has been loaned to the Toronto Marlies on a conditioning stint, marking the first return in about a year.

While there is obviously no need to rush Murray back, and it is highly unlikely that he will get in a game for the Toronto Maple Leafs as the playoffs start, this does mark a major win for Murray and the Leafs in his return to being 100 percent. At the minimum, it appears he will be healthy next season.
