Auston Matthews, the star forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs, has had quite an impressive season, scoring 62 goals in 73 games played. It seems that Sheldon Keefe, the head coach for the Leafs, is not certain that Matthews will score 70 goals before the end of the regular season.

As the regular season is coming to a close, the burning question on Leafs fans minds is whether Matthews will score 70 goals before the playoffs. It won't be easy for Matthews, considering that there are 8 games left in the regular season, meaning he would need to score a minimum of a goal per game to reach this milestone.

Sheldon Keefe, the head coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs, does not seem so confident that Matthews can score 8 more goals before the season ends, Luke Fox shared a recent quote in which Keefe said

«I'm not concerned about 70 goals at all. I'm concerned about having him and our team ready to go for playoffs.» Sheldon Keefe

Keefe does not seem so optimistic about Matthews, he seems to be more focused on preparing the team for the playoffs. He may be right in focusing his energy on preparing the team for the playoffs, taking into consideration that the team has not won the Stanley Cup since 1967.

This quote from Sheldon Keefe may seem insignificant to some fans, but his lack of faith could negatively impact Matthews' confidence. The coach's role is important, they need to have faith and confidence in their players, Keefe's lack of confidence could come back to haunt him later.
