The Vancouver Canucks look poised to resort to their third string goali after being struck by horrible injury luck.

Indeed, after losing their number one goalie Thacher Demko, it looks like they'll need to replace his substitute: Casey DeSmith.

According to multiple reports, DeSmith is injured, and the third goalie of the organization, Arturs Silovs, should get the start tonight, in the fourth game against the Nashville Predators.

Frank Seravalli added more details, stating that his injury is minor, but big enough to force him to stay sidelined. The insider also shared that DeSmith could come back in game 5, but meanwhile, Silovs will play, with Nikita Tolopilo backing him up.

Here's his full statement:

"Sounds relatively minor for DeSmith, but enough to keep him out for Game 4. Expect Nikita Tolopilo to backup Silovs this afternoon.

DeSmith is a possibility for Game 5 in Van on Tuesday night. Injury occurred late in Game 3 but is unrelated to McCarron hit."

Silovs played only nine NHL games in his career, including four this season with the Canucks. However, the 23 year old played 34 games this year in the AHL, with Abbotsford, and had a 16-11-6 record.

As for Tolopilo, he had a 20-13-1 record in his first season in North America.

Stay tuned.
