According to Elliotte Friedman, a massive trade involving J.T. Miller fell through at the last minute.

In Vancouver, the ongoing feud between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson took a massive turn when Rick Tocchet publicly went after Miller in a post-game press conference.

After a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, Tocchet benched Miller and openly discussed it in his press conference:

"He is struggling. He is caught in between. It seems like every time he is on the ice, something bad happens.

I think he has some bad luck, but he also has some reads that he has to look at himself right now and focus on some of these reads. I mean, you can't dive in on a four-on-four, things like that. I think he is trying, but I think the focus level has to get a little higher."

Then, yesterday, reports confirmed that the veteran forward could be traded soon, with rumors stating he would be a healthy scratch going into last night's game.

However, he ended up playing, and the trade fell through:

"J.T. Miller I expect is going to play tonight, unless something changes at the last minute. But there was a time in the last 24 hours where J.T. Miller was not going to play.

He was going to be held out of the lineup because talks were progressing on a trade, I believe that team to be the New York Rangers."

"Now I don't know exactly what happened but that trade is off right now. ... Things had progressed to a certain point where he was definitely not going to play."

The Canucks won 3-2 over the Edmonton Oilers last night. Miller played an important role in his team's success, scoring two points.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with him ahead of the Canucks' next game, set to go down Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.
