The Vegas Golden Knights have always made some interesting off-season moves, but their latest is drawing criticism from Jonathan Marchessault himself.
The Nashville Predators made some huge splashes this off-season, with few bigger than the free agency pairing of Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos, who will now look to help this team to become a genuine Stanley Cup threat in the Western Conference. Both pickups for Nashville were shockers, but now, Marchessault has called out his former team for their decision to let him walk, as he revealed what he said to the front office before moving on.
I need to know, are you guys letting me go for real?
Those were the comments made to Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon, and it appears as though they were confident in letting him walk, as the team failed to match the offer made by Nashville. Now, they've replaced him with Victor Olofson, with Brendan Brisson and Alexander Holtz being their only other additions to the lineup this summer, giving them plenty of question marks heading into the 2024/25 season.
As for Marchessault, he will end his Golden Knights career with 514 games played, 192 goals and 417 points, and while he will always be remembered as a franchise legend for winning the Conn Smythe in their first Stanley Cup winning season, it's safe to say that this was a sour note to end their relationship on.
