Yesterday, Marchessault revealed that he felt the Golden Knights never gave him a reasonable contract offer ahead of the July 1st free agency deadline. He stated that he felt like he wasn't part of the team's plans going forward, despite winning the Conn Smythe with them just two years ago.
McCrimmon made his own statement today, although he did not give any details to explain his thought process. He simply cast the comments away, referencing Marchessault's personality as the reason for the comments.
Marchessault was perhaps the most beloved Golden Knight still with the team last season. The only player that could come close was Marc-Andre Fleury, whom the team infamously traded for nothing the year after he won the Vezina trophy. Needless to say, Knights fans are not particularly happy about the way the team has managed their top players.
