The Colorado Avalanche have a tough first round matchup against the Winnipeg Jets this year. Now it seems that they will be without one of their top line forwards for the series as Jonathan Drouin will reportedly be out of the lineup.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman was the first to report the news today. Drouin will be a big loss for the Avs after he found his game again this year, playing with Nathan MacKinnon. He had 19 goals, two off his career high, and 56 points, a proper career high.

Avs announce Jonathan Drouin will miss the first round of playoffs

Drouin appeared in 79 regular season games with the Avs this year, including the last game of the season, a 5-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers. However, he only played a little under 15 minutes of ice time, a far cry from his near 20 minute average. It is possible he sustained an injury in that game which has caused the team to lose him for the first round of the playoffs.
