Last night, the Utica Comets faced the Laval Rocket and lost the game 4-3. The Comets lost the game, but they also lost the 25-year-old forward Fillip Engaras after he was taken out of the game in a violent collision with the boards.
With only a few minutes remaining in the third period, Utica desperately tried to come back from their 4-2 deficit. In the offensive zone, Engaras tried to pass through the Rocket defenseman Zack Hayes. As he tried to go around him, Engaras was lightly pushed by Hayes and eventually lost his footing before hitting the boards at full speed and collapsing on the ice.
He had to get help from the medical unit to leave the ice.

His team released an update after the incident, confirming Engaras' game was over. We are still waiting for an update on his health condition.
Here's what they posted:
Engaras, 25, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He never reached the NHL, but competed for several years in the AHL, with the Bakersfield Condors and the Utica Comets. He also competed in the ECHL last season with the Adirondack Thunder and played an important role in their playoff run, scoring nine points in 17 games.
