700-Game NHL Fixture Announces Horrible Medical Diagnosis
A former NHLer and USA Hockey Hall-of-Famer has announced a tragic diagnosis.
Granato Announces Tragic News
Tony Granato took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce some tragic news to the hockey community.
I debated how to share this news but I will be taking a temporary leave of absence from NBC Sports Chicago and the Blackhawks broadcasts, as well as NHL Network. I was recently diagnosed with a form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and will begin treatment this week. I wish I could reach out to everyone individually, but felt like this was the best way to share the news. My family, faith, and friends will be my strength to help me through my treatments. I appreciate all the love and support I have received already. With the holiday season here, cherish the times with your loved ones, as I know I will.
Granato was spending time with the Chicago Blackhawks broadcast this season but that is now on hold.
Granato spent his career with the Rangers, Sharks, and Kings scoring 492 points in 774 games. He also spent time as an assistant coach for the Red Wings and the Penguins.
We wish him all the best on his upcoming journey and are keeping him in our prayers.
