An analyst has now proposed that he sign with a main rival of the Bruins - the Montreal Canadiens.
The Montreal Canadiens are in a very interesting spot as an organization. They're probably two years away from pushing for the playoffs, and three or four from being an actual contender. However, for the sake of the development of key young pieces, and in pursuit of defining an identity as a team, Tyler Bertuzzi could be the right piece.
The Canadiens have Jonathan Drouin, and his $5.5-million cap hit expiring this off-season, and analyst Maxim Lapierre has suggested they replace Drouin with the gritty power-winger.
Bertuzzi's aggressive skill-based game would be a perfect complement to the Canadiens forward group - whether his role is isolating Cole Caufield, or sparking offense from the middle-six. He would equally allow the Canadiens to pursue options to trade a player like Josh Anderson.
With Bertuzzi expected to demand somewhere in the $5-6 Million range this off-season, he could be the ideal lateral move for the Habs.
The only question is, would he be willing to sign in Canada?
