Auston Matthews Savagely Disses The Poorest Team In The NHL
Hockey players have gotten a bad reputation as collectively having no personality. Auston Matthews is doing his best to prove that that is not the case.
Matthews Calls Out Coyotes
In a recent interview Matthews was asked a few questions about what his experiences were like growing up as a hockey player in Arizona. One question he was asked was what NHL teams he disliked growing up. His answer was hilarious.
"I didn't really dislike any teams honestly. [The] Coyotes were never good enough like, to have a rival."
Hide The Pain Auston
Matthews may have been joking, but the childhood pain is real. Matthews was born in 1997 and drafted in 2016. In that stretch the Coyotes won exactly two playoff series, both in 2012. They did make the playoffs seven times during that same stretch but three of those runs came in 1998, 1999, and 2000 when Matthews would have been too young to remember them. Needless to say, the Coyotes really were not good enough to form meaningful rivalries.
