The Colorado Avalanche aren't quite where they used to be when they won the Stanley Cup two seasons ago. A string of unfortunate injuries have left them struggling to keep themselves in a playoff spot, and it appears as though these issues are finally affecting the team's chemistry.
Toews Calls Out Teammates
Following last night's 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews took to the media to call out his teammates who aren't performing up to standard.
"I think we got some guys who think they're playing well and I think they're kidding themselves." - Devon Toews
While Toews didn't name names, it's safe to assume that his teammates know who he was talking about.
Trouble In Paradise
Toews has been with the Avalanche for quite some time now and was an instrumental piece in their Stanley Cup victory two years ago. You'd think winning a Stanley Cup would bring you closer to your teammates, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
However, it seems like Toews has no issues upsetting his comrades if it means their quality of play improves from where it currently is. Only time will tell if the message is received.
