After youngsters Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider burst onto the scene last year, and both becoming finalists for the Calder trophy, eventually being won by Seider, General Manager Steve Yzerman knew it was time to make some moves to contend for the playoffs. So this offseason they brought in David Perron, Olli Maatta, Andrew Copp, Dominik Kubalik, Ben Chiarot and goaltender Ville Husso.
The newcomers have added some great depth to the lineup, and so far it has worked as the Wings are 2-0 on the season and have only allowed 2 goals in those two games.
The unfortunate news though is Tyler Bertuzzi who has been one of the teams best players these past few seasons will not be able to play for awhile.
Bertuzzi left Saturday nights game after blocking a shot against the New Jersey Devils and did not return, now it is expected that he will miss the next 4-6 weeks.
Tyler Bertuzzi (upper body) will be out 4-6 weeks. Jakub Vrana (personal reasons) will be unavailable tonight. Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) October 17, 2022
The 27 year old had a career year last season putting up 30 goals and 62 points in 68 games.
