The Minnesota Wild lost 6-0 to the Ottawa Senators yesterday.
During the game, Wild forward Ryan Hartman was ejected for roughing Senators forward Tim Stutzle, and now he is facing a more serious punishment.
The Department of Player Safety announced this morning that he is going to have an in-person hearing for the play.
This is not the first time Hartman has gotten in trouble with the Department of Player Safety over something he did on a faceoff.
Last year, he was fined for intentionally high-sticking Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti on a faceoff draw.
Furthermore, this is not the first time Hartman will be suspended. In fact, he has a rather lengthy history with the DoPS.
The 30-year-old has been suspended four times in his career, April of 2024 when he threw his stick at a referee.
This next suspension could very well be the longest of his career. After all, he now has an extensive history with the DoPS and will be considered a repeat offender.
Additionally, he has been offered an in-person hearing which gives the department the opportunity to suspend the veteran for more than five games if they feel that is appropriate.
Typically players get suspended for around six or seven games when they face an in-person hearing.
With 11 years and more than 600 games of NHL experience, Hartman certainly knows better, especially considering the fact that he has been suspended multiple times before.
At this point he has developed a reputation as one of the league's dirtiest players, a title that he has rightfully earned.
Be sure to stay tuned to see when the DoPS will make their decision so you can find out how many games he will miss this season.
