Vrana was just making his return from the NHLPA players assistance program for a battle with addiction.
An elite 5 on 5 goal scorer, it was a shock yesterday when General Manager Steve Yzerman made this decision, as they risked losing him for nothing. No one knows the real reason why this decision was made, but many speculated it was due to cap reasons with a few players returning from injury.
Well, any concerns the team was going to have with the possibility of losing Vrana is now gone as he has gone surprisingly unclaimed and will reported to the Wings AHL franchise.

I must personally say I am shocked at this news. Vrana since joining the Red Wings has produced at nearly a point per game pace and has scored 22 goals in 39 games. Definitely someone you'd think a team would take a shot at.
The only explanation I can think of is there is something not being made public about Vrana.
