BREAKING: Top 10 Pick Goes Down With Scary Shoulder Injury
A recent top-10 pick has gone down with a shoulder injury worrying fans about how much time he will miss this season.
Savoie Injures His Shoulder Versus Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres are facing off against each other in the final game of their prospect tournament. On the first shift of the game for Matthew Savoie, the worst possible thing happened as he fell into the boards awkwardly.
Savoie was the 9th overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft and the Sabres have high expectations for him. He scored 38 goals and 95 points in 62 games with the Winnipeg Ice last season.
This is similar to an injury he has previously had and could be a potential issue for years to come for Savoie. He was once considered as a prospect similar to Shane Wright in terms of skill and even applied for exceptional status like Wright but was denied.
Hopefully, the injury will not knock Savoie out for too long but if it is a worst-case scenario injury, Savoie could miss the entirety of this upcoming season.
This now raises the question of if NHL teams should be resting their top prospects for prospect tournament games as Savoie would not have sustained this injury if he was just doing regular training.
