Numerous hockey players have a background in multiple sports. While some of them naturally gravitate towards teams, others are compelled to do so. This was the case with Sidney Crosby and Jack Johnson, who were urged to pursue a summer sport. Consequently, they both decided to join their high school baseball team, but their stint was short-lived.
In a recent TNT game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Colorado Avalanche, Jack Johnson was interviewed by Paul Bissonnette. During the interview, Bissonnette asked Johnson for permission to recount the story of how both players were expelled from their high school team. Johnson granted his consent, saying that he had "served his time."
As per Bissonnette, the incident took place when Johnson was hit by a pitch, causing his hockey instincts to kick in, and he charged the mound. Johnson reportedly managed to overpower both the pitcher and the first baseman, while Crosby tackled the catcher.
