Brad Treliving has already made the news with his information-packed opening press conference in Toronto this morning. While much of the focus was on Sheldon Keefe and the Core Four, Treliving took the time to take a shot at an old friend of his, and current Maple Leafs defenseman.
Treliving Doesn't Hold Back on Giordano
Treliving was asked in his opening press conference about some of his current connections with players on the Leafs' roster. He was the GM of Calgary when guys like Mark Giordano and TJ Brodie played for the Flames, so he's fairly familiar with them.
This is what he had to say about Giordano:
"Yeah, it's good to see those guys. Gio, it's good to see him still playing at 75."
Ouch!
Treliving Praises Giordano and Brodie
While the first comments about Giordano were clearly a joke, Treliving went on to commend Giordano and Brodie for the kind of people that they are and confirmed that he's already been in contact with Giordano over the last few days.
Treliving has certainly made a strong first impression in Toronto and will look to quickly build around his current roster to make them a true contender.
