Gary Bettman has been under fire lately for the brutal NHL playoff schedule. Now, an active NHL defenseman has called him out.
Stecher Calls Out Bettman
For the sole playoff game being played Sunday, Bettman couldn't fight with ESPN. Thus, he aired the matchup between Vegas and Edmonton at 8PM Local Time, or 10PM Eastern Time.
This is ridiculous, and definitely doesn't help grow the game.
Even worse, the feed was cut off by an MLB game, and viewers missed the first three goals.
The eventful beginning of the first period would have been a viral moment had it even been aired.
With this in mind, Calgary Flames defenseman Troy Stecher decided to speak up:
👏🏼 ESPN. Missed three goals in the opening three minutes of an elimination NHL playoff game because we had to finish out a 9-1 MLB blowout. #GrowTheGame
We will see if any change will come, but as long as pockets are being filled for NHL executives, it is pretty unlikely.
