Long story short, he was hanging out with friends as the draft went on, and later that night, he crashed his car. Fortunately, he wasn't injured in the accident and went on to have an amazing career.

Chelios' Career

If Chelios' accident had been more significant, he could have missed out on a successful hockey career that gave him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

He ended up playing for almost 30 years in the NHL, representing the Montreal Canadiens, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Atlanta Thrashers.

The defenseman scored 948 points in 1651 games and had 2891 penalty minutes in regular seasons.

In 266 playoff games, Chelios scored 144 points. He also won three Stanley Cups.
