Dubas Looking To Poach Leafs Top Front Office Members
Kyle Dubas has left Toronto and looks to poach top Leafs personnel after a scandalous departure from the organization.
Dubas Looking To Poach Leafs Top Front Office Members
When the Pittsburgh Penguins hired Kyle Dubas to be their President of Hockey Operations, we all knew that he would be targeting some Leafs personnel.
He is doing exactly that and there are three major members of the Maple Leafs organization he is targeting.
Per insider James Mirtle:
"Other talk I'm hearing is that the Leafs will try to keep assistant GM Brandon Pridham, although they don't have a vacant GM role to offer him and the Penguins now do, so theoretically that could be a factor.
Other teams believe Dubas will also attempt to bring over Leafs head scout Wes Clark and members of Toronto's analytics department, although the complicating factor is many of them are under contract." - Mirtle
In addition to this from Mirtle, Elliotte Friedman has also provided insight on who else Dubas wants.
"I think the two names people talk about are Wes Clark and Darryl Metcalf, who is one of their assistant general managers" - Friedman
So to recap, Kyle Dubas now wants to bring Brandon Pridham (AGM), Darryl Metcalf (AGM), and Wes Clark (Head Scout) on top of analytics members. If Dubas can pull off this heist, the Maple Leafs front office will be picked clean.
This is definitely not just revenge but there could be a level of pettiness to this that the Leafs need to account for. While contracts will play a role in things, if Dubas can offer them all promotions then the Leafs will likely be forced to let them leave.
