Best friends Kyle Stark and Ryan Clark are diehard Avalanche fans and unfortunately Kyle Stark passed away. Kyle was such a great friend and fan that this is how he was described regarding his team:
Kyle was an avid Avalanche fan, always cheering for his team, whether a successful season or not. His love for the game was deep. In his mind, a night at an Avalanche game with his buddy Ryan, was better than a weeks vacation.
Last year Ryan Clark was asked by his friends family to honour their son Kyle and take his ashes to the Avalanche game and spread them on the ice.
An usher asked what Clark was doing with a bag that contained his friends ashes that he spread on the ice while the zamboni was driving by, which Ryan explained:
whats where Kyle would want to be
So last year, Clark was asked by Stark's family to honor their son by taking their son's ashes to a game and spreading them on the ice. When asked by the usher what Clark was doing with the baggie, containing his friend's ashes, he spread the ashes on the ice, while the Zamboni drove by.
Unfortunately though, as a result of doing this, Ryan was banned from Ball Arena for the season.
Ryan stated:
he has no hesitation about what he's done and would do it again to honour his friend
