The Boston Bruins finished in the 1st wild card spot this season with a record of 51-26-5. Unfortunately for them though, they had an early playoff exit at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes, which later saw the firing of head coach Bruce Cassidy.
The next task the Bruins were going to undertake was a roster re-construction. Last season the Bruins signed Nick Foligno to a 2-year deal with an AAV of $3,800,000. While this seemed like a steal for the former 70+ point scorer and veteran leader, it didn't quite work out for the Bruins or Foligno, who had his worst points season since his rookie season where he only played 45 games with the Ottawa Senators.
Rumours began to circle that the Bruins were considering buying out his final year of the contract, but according to this insider, they have decided against that.
