With less than two minutes left in a tie game between Sweden and Switzerland, the refs made arguably the worst call in tournament history showing blatant favoritism.

Referees Make A Horrendous Call In An Elimination Game

Today during the final two minutes of the quarterfinal match between Switzerland and Sweden at the 2024 World Junior Championships (which are being hosted in Sweden), the referees made arguably the worst call in tournament history.

easily one of the worst penalties I've ever seen called in any sport

called a MAJOR on Switzerland
changed to two min penalty

with about 1:50 left in a 2-2 elimination game Sweden is GIFTED a power play

Less than 2 mins left, elimination game.

Worst penalty call of all time?

The call is easily one of the worst in recent memory and the Canadian announcers believed that it would be reduced to nothing. The interesting thing is that the referee does not make a call until after the Swedish player protests begging for a call.

While Sweden did not score on their gifted powerplay, they did score in overtime on another powerplay taking down the Swiss.

Former NHLers and Fans Accuse The Referees Of Rigging The Game

Many took to social media to share their grievances with the call and some even called the game rigged in favor of Sweden.

Unfortunately despite Sweden winning, there will be a dark cloud that follows this game as the referees clearly had a hand in the outcome of it.
