Over the last couple of days, multiple insiders from the Penguins have reported that Dubas is in the midst of planning something big. A name that has come up in rumors so far is Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets. Acquiring Hellebuyck would be in an assumed mission to compete for a Stanley Cup once again with their original core. With their offense starting to lose some of its firepower due to the increase in age from the likes of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins need to ensure that the rest of their roster can make up for the lost. Hellebuyck would almost certainly fill that need.
With the constantly increasing possibility of Hellebuyck becoming a Penguin, the concerns have been raised about veteran goaltender Tristan Jarry and whether he will be brought back this offseason. Jarry is an unrestricted free agent come July 1st, so it could be for the best interest of both parties to let him walk. Even though losing the team's go-to goalie this summer would be a hard thing to go through, Penguins fans have no reason to lose hope yet as they may have their next version of Marc-Andre Fleury coming to take over.
