Jack Eichel had disk replacement surgery two months ago, he was the first NHL player to undergo such a procedure. The Buffalo Sabres were so nervous and unwilling to allow Eichel to undertake this surgery that it ultimately led to Eichel's trade request and departure from Buffalo.
Enter the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Golden Knights acquired Eichel on November 4th in exchange for Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs and draft picks. Due to Eichel's surgery though the Knight's have yet to see their trade results come to fruition.
Eichel had been seen skating before Christmas in North Carolina, which confirmed that his arrival in Vegas was imminent.
According to John Vogl of The Athletic today is the big day for Golden Knights' fans!
Jack Eichel has officially arrived in Vegas and should be taking the ice with teammates today. This likely puts Eichel at least a month away from being in game shape, but puts the Golden Knights in a very favorable position heading into the playoffs. The Knight's will be required to clear salary to get under the salary cap, but Eichel's arrival should be near the trade deadline which should make this process easier.
