The Leafs rookie started things out by scoring a beautiful goal on his first shift of the game as he beat Tristan Jarry with a wicked backhand shot.
It was an especially important moment as it was the first goal of the game for the Leafs. It would not be the last time Knies got on the scoresheet however. In his very next shift, he decided to drop the gloves.
If you thought that surely, Knies was done at that point then you are dearly mistaken. The rookie went on to set up Max Domi with a beautiful pass for his second goal as a Leaf. The assist on the play meant that Knies had completed the Gordie Howe Hat Trick for himself, the first of his career.
Given the style of game that Knies plays, it might not be too surprising to see him rack up a few of these over the course of his career. Meanwhile though, he will look to continue to produce as the Leafs trounce the Penguins on home ice.
