The Calgary Flames are having one of their best seasons in franchise history and they're looking like a real Stanley cup contender this year.
Everything is rolling well in Calgary, however Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk is confused about how one of his teammates is being treated around the league.
That player Tkachuk is referring too is Johnny Gaudreau, otherwise known as "Johnny Hockey." Gaudreau is having what Tkachuk considers a Hart trophy caliber year. However Tkachuk is shocked that Gaudreau isn't getting the attention he feels Gaudreau deserves. Gaudreau has 31 goals and 60 assists in 67 games this season with a plus 49 rating.
Tkachuk said this about Gaudreau:
«I mean, it shocks me that he isn't the frontrunner or at least one of the top two or three. I mean, he has to be. If he's not, there's something very, very wrong with the system. And at the end of the day, he couldn't care less about it. But it just shows he's having probably one of the best seasons in Flames history, and how much he means to our team, what he provides. It's like we were talking about earlier, it's not just the offence. He's probably leading the league in plus-minus, and he's one of the best defensive forwards because he has the puck the whole time. He never has to play defence.»
Do you agree with Matthew Tkachuk's comments does Johnny Gaudreau belong in Hart trophy talks?
