The Edmonton Oilers have put up incredible numbers in the regular season, but thus far, playoff success has eluded them, with the team building around the superstar tandem of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
A dominant duo
This past season, McDavid and Draisaitl were No. 1 and 2 in the NHL in scoring, but after failing to reach the Western Conference Finals, questions are now being asked.
It appears the team are ready to run it back with minimal changes, but with the contracts of the star pairing coming up in 2025 and 2026, the longer playoff success takes the better the odds that one of them leave town.
Relax, Oilers fans
According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli however, the chances of that are slim, as he has leaked that there is a 90% chance that both of them will remain Oilers for a long time to come.
I think there's a 90% some chance that both McDavid and Draisaitl are Edmonton Oilers for a long, long time.
Of course nothing is set in stone until the ink on their next contract is dry, but given how well they work together, it makes sense if they want to stick together in Edmonton for a long time to come.
