Nottingham Panthers Bestow Massive Honor Upon Adam Johnson After His Passing

Adam Johnson's passing has been one of the most tragic events to happen in hockey in many years. Today his team the Nottingham Panthers announced the latest way they plan to honor the life and legacy of Johnson.
Johnson Passes Away In Tragic Accident
As a refresher for those who are not aware Adam Johnson passed away after a tragic play where his neck was cut by a skate. Since his passing the whole hockey world has mourned his loss and looked at the sport and its safety measures.
Since he passed many leagues and teams have implemented new safety measures. The most prominent being several NHL players who are now wearing neck protection in the wake of this tragedy. In Nottingham, a memorial was held shortly after the tragic day to celebrate the life of Johnson.

Now that things have settled since his passing the Nottingham Panthers have announced their plans to keep the memory of Adam Johnson alive within their program forever.
Panthers Bestow Massive Honor Upon Johnson
Today the Nottingham Panthers have announced that they are planning to retire Adam Johnson's number 47.
Following his tragic d*ath, the Nottingham Panthers of the @eliteicehockeyleague are retiring Adam Johnson's #47.
Johnson was producing at a point-per-game pace with the club prior to his passing... 🖤💛
A number retirement is usually a massive honor reserved for club legends due to on-ice impact. Johnson will be honored and remembered not only for his on-ice impact during his time in Nottingham but his impact on hockey as a whole.
Johnson's tragic passing has led to several difficult conversations about safety equipment and improved safety for those who play the game he loved for years after he is gone.
