According to Elliotte Friedman the Edmonton Oilers are in a win now situation that will require them to go "all in". Friedman shared the following quote:
"As I see it, you have to go for it if you're Edmonton. You have to say to your two star players, who are Hart Trophy caliber players, that 'we are going to give you an opportunity the way you've started this year'."
After a disappointing playoffs being swept by the Jets there was a belief that there was a clock ticking on Connor McDavid's patience to win in Edmonton. Friedman also identified 3 areas the Oilers were looking to upgrade.
"I think the question here is when do they do it? And I see at least 3 options. I see goal, I see 3rd line center and I see left defense. Now I don't know if you can do all of those things but I'm very curious to see what Ken Holland says 'I'm going to attack this and I'm going to attack it first and make it a priority.'"
It will be interesting to see when and how the Oilers attack this situation because the Oilers have lost 5 in a row and are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games.
