Last night against the Nashville Predators, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 30th & 31st goals of the season. Ovechkin now has 761 games over his career, 133 goals away from catching Wayne Gretzky for #1 all time!
What made scoring goal #30 special last night was that this made him the 2nd player all time to score 30 goals in a season 16 times. The only player to do it more was also a former Capital Mike Gartner
The NHL record he set though was Ovechkin is the only player to do it with one team!
Ovechkin has been a goal scoring machine over the course of his career and not many players would have been able to accomplish this with going through a 2012 lockdown where the league only played 48 games, or two COVID-shortened seasons.
How many goals do you think Ovechkin will finish with this season?
