REPORT: Insider Confirms Leon Draisaitl's Future In Edmonton
The Oilers have Leon Draisaitl under contract for a couple more years and fans are already starting to wonder if he will walk in free agency.
Friedman Confirms Draisaitl's Future In Edmonton
Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman recently went on Oilers Now and discussed the Oilers. One of the topics of conversation was Leon Draisaitl and Friedman dropped some major news.
"I think Draisaitl is going to stay...I'm saying that right now. I think Draisaitl is going to stay. If things stay the same, I don't think he'll go anywhere." - Elliotte Friedman
What This Means
Draisaitl is one of the few players near Connor McDavid. He and McDavid own four of the previous seven Hart trophies. It is clear that both want to win a cup and both want to win with Edmonton.
With the Oilers' practices starting nearly two weeks before anybody else, it is clear that they want to win. Draisaitl could look to hit 60 goals next season and alongside McDavid, the two could be the first pair of teammates to score over 60 goals in nearly 30 years.
While Draisaitl still has two seasons left on his current contract, he will certainly get paid on his next one and will likely be remaining in Edmonton on his next contract.
