The Buffalo Sabres have been an exciting team this year for the first time in awhile, mainly due to the emergence of Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens. They are currently fighting for a Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference, which no one expected at the beginning of the year.
What makes this team even more exciting is they're just getting better. They have a bunch of young emerging players and have quite a few prospects still up-and-coming. The Kevyn Adam's rebuild well in motion, the Buffalo Sabres are going to be a team to watch in the future!
Unfortunately though, one of their best prospects doesn't want to be part of the franchise:
Marek on 32TP says it sounds like Sabres will not be able to sign 2019 3rd RDer G-Erik Portillo, he currently plays for the Michigan Wolverines, looks like he will explore free agency. Sabres got UPL, Levi and signed Comrie to a 2-year deal. They didn't rule out a trade either. The Sabres drafted Erik Portillo back in 2019 out of the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL and has played the last few seasons with the University of Michigan. Since it's been 4 years since his draft year, he will become a free agent this August.
