The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a statement with who they will be using as their Andrei Vasilevskiy replacement.

Tampa's Vasilevskiy Replacement

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a definite decision regarding Andrei Vasilevskiy and who they will be replacing him with.

The #Lightning have given their starting goaltender job to Jonas Johansson (@joonasjohansson) over Matt Tomkins & Hugo Alnefelt in the absence of Andrei Vasilevskiy.

This is certainly a risky move for the Lightning considering Johansson's experience.

Tampa's Risk

Johansson has played only 35 NHL games at 28 years old and has been generally sub-par with a career AAV of .877 and a GAA of 3.32.

However, Johansson impressed in the preseason which shows there is legitimate upside for Johansson to serve as a Vasilevskiy replacement for the period he is out.

Only time will tell if Johansson is the answer to this problem or if Tampa will be left scrambling for a different goaltender.
