Patrick Lortie on Twitter made an announcement today that three NHL teams could be working out a deal right now involving swapping draft picks and players.

These three teams are: The Montreal Canadiens (who pick 1st and 26th), the Columbus Blue Jackets (who pick 6th and 12th) and the New Jersey Devils (who pick 2nd).

There is some top talent in this years draft, with big names including Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky, Logan Cooley and Simon Nemec. What makes this trade interesting is the New Jersey Devils mentioned that the 2nd overall pick could be in play if the player in return helps them win now.

The Montreal Canadiens have officially entered a rebuild and have some players that could definitely help the Devils improve their depth and top lines. Josh Anderson is first that comes to mind, who brings a power forward presence that the Devils are definitely lacking. If they are looking for help in the goal scoring department, they also have Mike Hoffman, or a net-front driver in Brendan Gallagher.

The Canadiens have 14 picks in this draft and 9 picks in the 2023 draft, so if the Devils and Blue Jackets want to swing some type of deal, the Habs definitely have the assets to make something happen.
