The Detroit Red Wings are being considered the favorites to land a former two-time 40 goal scorer that is on the trading block.
On Monday, NHL insiders Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed the possibility of an ALex DeBrincat trade. The young forward and his agent have made it clear he does not want to stay in Canada for the next 8 years of his NHL career.
I have a hard time believing that at the end of all this, it's not gonna be Detroit
- Jeff Marek on the 32 Thoughts Podcast
DeBrincat was born in Michigan and a return home seems very possible but it is uncertain if Steve Yzerman will able to make it happen.
It is uncertain if the Red Wings would be willing to commit long term to a player.
I think there's a couple of things here. Number one I've heard that Steve Yzerman is not crazy about term
- Elliotte Friedman
DeBrincat's Production
DeBrincat is coming off another solid offensive season putting up 27 goals and 66 points over 82 games this past season with the Ottawa Senators.
The former second round pick has scored 40 goals in a season twice both coming as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
DeBrincat has been around a point-per-game player for his whole career with 373 points in 450 games.
