Ryan Reaves has long been the most notable enforcer in the NHL, and over his time in the league, he's been a constant physical presence, engaging in many fights, most of them victories.
A veteran enforcer
Reaves has played in 828 games throughout his career, and this summer, made the decision to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and unsurprisingly, that's put a major target on his back.
Now, on the eve of the 2023-24 season, Reaves has received a stern warning, but it's come from a place that very few people would have expected.
Revenge incoming?
In a recent interview, young Montreal Canadiens forward Michael Pezzetta had some words for Reaves following their fight that took place a few years ago at Madison Square Garden.
When I heard Reaves was signing with Toronto, I was excited. I'm someone who likes to play hard, so when there are guys like him on the other side, it makes things more interesting.
Pezzetta hasn't been anywhere near as physical a force as Reaves during his young career, but after the first fight of his career against Reaves, it appears he's out for revenge.
You never know. Maybe I'll get another chance to fight him, and this time it'll be better.
It's unlikely that a fight between these two would decide the outcome of a game in one of the NHL's oldest rivalries, but if they were to play, this would be an exciting possibility to keep an eye on.
