Early last month the Ottawa Senators terminated Pierre McGuire where he was serving as vice president of player development.
His tenure with the Senators hardly lasted a year and it didn't do well for McGuire at all. One of the worst moves that McGuire made as past of the organization was playing a major part in the drafting of Tyler Boucher with the 10th overall pick last year.
Why is this a problem you may ask?
Boucher was a projected 2nd or 3rd round pick with many draft experts. Many believed this draft pick had something to do with the connection between Pierre and Brian Boucher, his former co-worker, and that he was drafting him because he was his friends son.
Boucher played his first full season this year in junior hockey for the Ottawa 67's and only managed 14 points in 24 games, not something you want to see from a top 10 draft pick.
Now after being fired from the Ottawa Senators, Sportsnet has apparently hired Pierre, who guaranteed has some Sidney Crosby quotes all lined up already.
Sportsnet has been making some major cutbacks already, so it's interesting as to why they hired McGuire, who most likely didnt come cheap.
